Bonus!

Got my last shipment of sock club yarn the day before Thanksgiving! This box contained the September skein (that the post office ate), the November skein, and the bonus skein.

I am tickled since it is based on the game I suggested: Space Invaders!

And I've already wound up the yarn as I would very much like to knit a pair of bmp socks. Muahahahaha!

Meanwhile, however, I've been finishing up hats for various gifts, going over to feed and play with Moe (Christina's cat), and mentally rearranging furniture here, all the while feeling blech because my right ear hurts.

I'm going to have myself a cuppa tea now to warm up my tonsils. It's 61 degrees inside Hampden Place, which might not be helping my ear any, but I fret over the cost of heating. I'll save my heating budget for when Chris is visiting as he has no extra fat like I do, and will feel the cold even more. =)

Reims

Spent the day knitting my current fancy sock project, Reims. I'd won a copy of Sock Club (the book in which this pattern appears) several months ago, and this is the first sock I'm knitting from it.

The yarn is an interesting mix I bought at Rhinebeck. It's called Footprints, and is sold with one large skein of a main color plus a small skein to use for the heels and toes. Love this color combination quite a bit! It's very regal and Reims-like.

I'd have finished it, but was suddenly overcome with sleepiness. And so, Mittens and I are going to call it a night and curl up beneath the down comforter.

G'night!

Pretty in Pink, or Purple

Last week, I wandered into Lovelyarns, which is my LYS. It's cute, close by, and has a great selection of yarns for the types of projects I tend to do (ie, socks!).

Sue, the owner, is really sweet. She bustles around helping folks figure out a stitch, or a pattern, or what yarn might go with what project. Of all the yarn shops I've been to, this is right at the top of my list!

I picked up a request last week to make a hat and mittens for a local school kid, and wandered back over to day hand them in. There are boxes and shelves piled high with completed projects, waiting to be delivered to the school around Thanksgiving. Yay!

Kate liked the photo she'd seen of the hat I'd made, Laura Irwin's Side Slip Cloche from her Boutique Knits book. She squeed (as usual! She is a gratifying audience for my knitting!), and I immediately offered to make another cloche for Lili.

And so I did. This is a surprisingly quick knit, considering that the band is knit first, then you pick up 96 stitches around to knit the crown. Ninety-six stitches! That's like, a lot! And then you increase fromm there! Aiee! But, the end result is totally worth it. This is definitely a hat I'd like to knit again, for me.

Socks! Owlsocks!

Is there anything cuter? Owlsocks, with bonus rounds of acorns, such that the owls on the feet ended up peeking out of my maryjanes, as though I had planned it!

Chris will be coming for the holidays, surprise for me! Well, not so surprising, since he invited himself over and needed to make sure I'd be here (and able to arrange tickets), but I wasn't expecting to see either of the cherubs, so YAY! I want to show him off to all my knitting peeps!

It's gotten much colder. So cold that I turned on the heat. Each time the furnace thing goes off in the basement, I can practically see dollar signs working their way through the radiators. =\ Right now, the temp is set to 64 degrees, so it's pretty cool inside Hampden Place. But at least I have two furry kittehs, a lovely down comforter, and lots of knitting to keep me warm.

Especially cute owl socks! I want to pick out different yarn and do them again!
