Spring Snow!

I had no idea there was snow on the ground until Candyce texted me last night to worry about whether she and Kevin would be able to make it down the hill to our first dim sum double-date.

Peering outside, indeed, a good couple of inches blanketed the neighborhood!

However, it's warming up today and so it's dripping off the balconies and sliding off the roof. Kevin texted me a bit ago to say it's slush up by their house, which is on a pretty steep slope, so they're going to try to meet us after all.

I'm sitting here refiling my taxes, I'd forgotten that I had had Chris as my dependent, but he's already filed taxes and thus my federal return burped back to me. Alas, removing him from my return brought down the amount I get back. Aiee!

At least it's still a refund and not an owing!

Boyfriend has arrived, so now we are off into the snow to get us some dim sum! Yay!

Sunshine

One of the things that's so nice about daylight savings time, once you get used to it, is that it remains light here until 8PM.

Later on in the summer, it'll be light out until after 9PM.

The long days lend themselves to all sorts of activity. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Missy and I dedicated to our practice walks in advance of the Breast Cancer 3-Day. Wednesday is game night at the office.

Mondays are going to be my day to sit and vegetate with my cats, I think. Here they are now, curled up at my side, following me when I wander into another room, then coming back out to sit beside me again. They are faithful little shadows and I love them.

Yesterday was the lovely, long and lazy day that I'd been looking forward to all week. We belated realized that it was Easter and figured it would be easier to buy groceries than to stalk restaurants for brunch. We made bacon and eggs and had a pastry chaser. Well. Okay. Several pastry chasers.

You know what the best part is? He isn't allergic to anything and can pack away the sweets as well as I can. :) There's nothing more lonesome than dating someone who doesn't eat the same sorts of things you do in relative quantities. We don't have to like everything exactly the same, but there needs to be enough overlap to make dining together an experience instead of an ordeal.

Speaking of ordeals, poor Rob and I were once again stymied in our attempt to have dinner at Jak's. By the time we got to the restaurant, the wait for a table (they don't do reservations) was nearly two hours. Once again, we headed to Outback instead. A steak dinner is never disappointing, so long as the steak is done right and the company good. And despite not being at the restaurant we wanted to try out, dinner was great :)
